[All Max sees is that Jason is the only one that could ever see him, and ever not judge him like this. At home he'd get dumped on his couch and left to suffer. No one there would understand the depths that he'd been through, or what it was like to hurt and be hurt by those around even if he was trying to do good. He did good. He was the savior. Now he has to come back and live. He knows that Oasis will go on, and that's a good thing too. It's a thing he will need to learn to focus on as well.
