[Suds slide down his body and things slowly slip into his memory. He recalls words that were similar when they were together, about not putting things together or being -- something, Max remembers that Jason was hesitant, and Max was the one that pushed it all. Max was the one that used his handprint that first night. He recalls feeling such a strong bond that he reached out and shoved power into this young man. Now he can't even imagine something like that.
It was so immature, and human of him. He was so locked in his emotions then. A part of Max wants to go back and feel all that passion, to live with that sort of unyielding belief in life. Then he looks at Jason and all he knows is that he wants more. It's a double standard he feels. It's a fight within himself.
Lifting his hand, he draws it down Jason's face and watches the water fall from his arm. ]
I want it all. You're not too much. You're wonderful. You make me feel alive in ways I didn't remember I could. It's hard to trust it, but I want to remember ... I don't want to be the person I was before though, that human. I'm not him. I'll never take you too far, too fast.
[ Jason remembers too. That could've been the end with them- it felt like such a violation, especially because they were so new. There had been a deep connection despite Max's powers though. Jason was upset, but he still felt like there was something more. He still feels it now, even with things being just slightly off from before. But god, he feels just as connected.
He works his hands up along Max's chest, to his shoulders, smiling softly when Max reaches out to touch him. It's rare that he has quiet moments like this in his life. Even with the turmoil of earlier tonight, things feel peaceful here with Max.
There's all of life going on out there, but then there's this. The two of them just being able to be with each other. ]
I liked that human. I like this human too. I know so much happened to you that I can't even begin to understand- and all the years, but- your heart. You're still you, and I wanna get to know the rest, whoever you are now.
[It had been all encompassing then. Max remembers being completely intimidated by Jason in almost every manner. He might have been a powerful alien, but he'd never been with another person who made him burn like Jason did that night. He'd chased and been chased, and there were no doubts between them after the first time their lips met. There was an inferno that wrote novels and placed them into their spots in the chilly sky above the New Jersey shore. Max imagines that there are still a few stars that rotate the galaxy and sing of the ardor that was released between them.
Maybe he'd been overtaken by the pen that wrote with his heart's blood, but he had to shake his head. He had such heart. Now where was it. He could look at Jason and remember it, recall the yearning to throw him against a wall and never let their lips part and yet here he sat in a tub, quietly allowing Jason to run a washcloth across his body. Had Max become a dried up man, who couldn't see the body that he'd lusted over so passionately, the one that he knew even now he had no right to.
Perhaps Max's softer figure had grown thinner and harder in most places than it had been before when they were last together. Max was built differently now. He was built from what he'd experienced. He would keep working, and fighting to try and stay the man he was, but he also had to reconnect with who he had been. Jason was that bridge. He could see it in those eyes.
There's this. Leaning forward, Max closes his eyes and tries to remember. He stops the hand that cleans him and touches their lips together again. He knows how it felt not long ago, but he wants this now, now that he's settling back in.]
"Jason..."
[He whispers, and slides up so their bodies are close. They can't come together, but he can feel the brush of legs against chests. He doesn't even try for soft, but he dives in-- he recalls what it was to taste the layers of Jason's mouth, to need to drink him down desperately. So Max kisses him like he wants to be kissed to see if he can bring back the electricity to his skin. ]
[ Jason was intimidated by Max too, in a different kind of way. He thought he was done sharing himself, his heart, his life. So much had happened, and he had been so used, so burned. The world hated him now and everyone's backs felt turned to him. It was better to stay closed off and just deal with himself. He had to learn how to just be ok with himself.
But then there was Max, and something opened up inside of him again. He knows how quick he falls for people, but even then it was different. Not something fleeting. In Max's eyes, Jason could tell he wanted to stay. Seeing him there at that airport for the first time in months (years for Max, he can't believe it) he felt himself opening up yet again, despite how cautious he felt like he had become once again.
And now- now he's struggling a little, but he's trying. Max is different than he used to be, but he's still Max. He still looks at him with those eyes, even if it's harder to reconnect.
When Max leans forward, Jason does too. He presses his lips against Max's because he wants to, because this is how to reconnect, isn't it? He moves his arms around Max's shoulder when he slides even closer, and then things no longer feel all that slow. That's okay too, Max is figuring things out, and Jason's been longing for this kiss. He kisses back this time as well, lips parting to let Max in and taste him. His hand pushes up into Max's hair to hold him just a little closer as he indulges in this kiss. ]
[It's obviously the feel of those perfectly made lips against his own that come back first. No matter how hard or soft the kiss is, Max will never forget how they fell against his own mouth. There's a twitch inside him, a still small flame of light that flickers and ignites. He can feel the well of emotion slowly begin to cling to a heart he thought had slowed to barely beating.
The tub is small, and Jason isn't close enough. Moving the way he's siting, Max pulls Jason across the water so that he has Jason closer still. Soon, either Max is going to have to kneel, or Jason will have to come at a different position and wrap his body around Max, if there's even room for that in this small space. Wanting to taste Jason even further, Max swipes his tongue more clearly through every angle and across every surface leaving nothing unexplored.
The alien combs through a set of unruly curls with one set of fingers, and uses another to thumb over a peaked nipple. This is a part of what he remembers. It's a part of what he can recall that brought them together in the first place. Nipping lightly at Jason's lip, he pulls back. Eyes searching Jason's frantically to make sure it's okay, and that it feels good-- because Max is finally beginning to feel for the first time in a long time. ]
